Straight outta Japan!

So okay, what is the story behind this rusty Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IV from 1997 straight outta Japan?

It was the year 2019 when the world was still a bit normal. So midyear 2019 I had the greatest idea ever in my life. I needed a project car ASAP to burn some money!

I looked for cars on the internet every free second I had but did not know what I was looking for. From Vw Golf’s, Toyota Celica’s, Audi s3’s, Maseratis to even Porsches… 

I realized it was now time for a good plan. 

And here is how it went:

So now I was seriously looking for a Project car and at this point, I just had an Imagination of what it could or should be. What was clear it must be Cheap, Fun, and a bit of a good investment. 

The founder of Ec-Racing (my brother) already had several project cars in his life with some highs and lows so he taught me some advice on what he thought was a good car to start with.

So now was the time to define what the goals with the car will be and here are the points:

-Motorsport background 

-built-in in the early 2000s, not many electronic systems mean easier to work on and also lighter weight.

-All-wheel drive must have 

-make some power easy for us Turbocharged is the way to go

-Good suspension geometry 

-Good aftermarket support

-Engine 2000ccm or more, 16 Valve or more 

-Must be Gasoline 

-Good wheelbase not too long not too short

-Reliability 

-Engine could be built up to 500+whp

-Should be a special edition 

 And the cherry on top: that all for a budget of 6000€

Because I always want things to be perfect, it was a hard search…

 I made up a Top 5 list of what cars I was keeping an eye out for:

So now I began with the real searching process 

At first, I was looking for Evos and Imprezas but soon I realized that I didn’t find anything in a reasonable price range with my budget. I was a bit disappointed.

But on October 29. A 1997 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IV pop-up on the internet located in Berlin Germany and with a lot of rust. And here the story began…
